Solution-Focused Workshops

Solution-focused practice is a humanistic manner of communication that has benefits for everyone involved in the conversation, practitioners, clients and their families.

Solution-focused conversations use language strategically to enhance self-awareness, self-perception, positive emotions, autonomy, agency and goal striving.

As such, Solution-Focused Communication is a generative communication style, which means that it helps to amplify positive qualities, create new meaning and fresh insights.

We have a variety of workshops available:  For more information please contact Nikky ([email protected]) for more details.

Humanistic Virtual Care

Due to public health concerns, there has been a dramatic transition to virtual care. With this transition, a variety of benefits and concerns have become apparent to both clinicians and clients. As a result, we have created this workshop series to help clinicians understand and manage these opportunities and challenges in ways that are consistent with our humanistic, solution-focused approach. These workshops are highly engaging and participatory. Participants will learn and rehearse skills that can immediately impact their practice and wellbeing. This workshops takes place over 2 half days.

Compassion vs Empathy

Healthcare practitioners are often encouraged to be empathetic and compassionate to improve patient-related outcomes and satisfaction. In fact, compassion is considered essential to quality patient care. However, there are different outcomes for clinicians’ own wellbeing associated with empathy and compassion. This workshop provides practical skills and tools for clinicians to help them practice compassion without empathetic distress. This workshop takes place over 2 half days.

Difficult Conversations

During this 3 hour workshop participants will learn to confidently navigate difficult conversations, deliver challenging news and help to resolve conflict using solution-focused principles and language skills. Participants will learn strategies to help facilitate and manage challenging and difficult conversations with clients, families and colleagues, using humanistic, solution-focused approaches.

The Paradox of Deep Listening

Our newest workshop is an immersive experience that begins a full week before the scheduled workshop date with some creative questions and exercises for each participant to consider. Healing, both for ourselves and our clients, begins with the quality of our listening. Participants will learn how to practice, embed and embrace the power and paradox of deep listening in ways that enrich their inherent wholeness, enabling them to work with more presence and joy.
